RBL Policies
Computer Country RBL Addition and Removal Policies:
Definitions:
- Addition/s = Adding the offending network to the RBL server so that mail
cannot be received from them.
- Network = The network that originated the spam.
- RBL = Realtime Block List
- Removal/s = Removing the offending network from the RBL server so that
mail can be received from them.
RBL Additions:
- Ips will generally be added to the RBL if we have received a number of
messages from your ip to customer accounts and those messages were flagged
as spam.
- Our management my decide to add an ip based on what we perceive as a
spam attack.
Notes on Additions: We don't really want to run an RBL at all. We
only block those ips that create a problems by trying to flood our network with
spam. Almost all of those ips are from known spammers or spam bots.
RBL Removals:
- Network change - If the network has changed ownership and the new network
owners do not appear to be spam friendly then the network is a candidate for
removal from our RBL server.
- Policy change - If a policy change, that is verifiable, has been made to
make the network no longer spam friendly then the network is a candidate for
rmoval from our RBL server.
- Cleaned up network - If the system admin of the ip in question has found
and removed compromises on their network then the network is a candidate for rmoval from our RBL
server.
- RBL timeout - Our system will time out an RBL entry automatically after
6 days. Each time an ip has to be added to the RBL it will stay on for
a longer period of time.
Note:
These are just general guidlines for addition and removal of networks from
our RBL server. Our management has final authority in the addition and
removal of networks from our RBL and the decisions made will not always align
exactly with the above policies. These policies may change without notice.
